D.L. Cerney debuted in February of 1985 in an East Village shop filled with pristine, unworn vintage clothing for men and women. The clothes we placed on our racks were made with the kind of care and attention to detail that had become uncommon in the era of mass production.

When the dead stock was depleted, Linda and Duane thumbed their noses at fashion for fashion's sake and drew inspiration from classic styles from the 40's, 50's and early 60's, when clothing for both men and women was flattering, elegant and above all, well made.

Today, the spirit of the beautiful vintage garments that we started with lives in the garments we now create. Still a family business, we are intent on re-creating and re-interpreting the classic style of an era when beauty and quality were expected, whether you were a cabaret singer or a coal miner. We carefully select our fabrics to complement the vintage bolts we've collected, our patterns are based on our old favorites, we do all the cutting and finishing in our onsite workshop and everything is still proudly made right here in New York City under our careful supervision.
